Junk and Stress

Stress is one of those things that we all have to deal with at one point or another in our lives. There are some of us who deal with stress on a regular basis, and because of that, we really struggle with getting things done. Did you know, however, that clutter can actually play a significant role in how stressed out you are? It’s true!

There are a number of different ways that clutter can cause you to get stressed out. Here are a few of the most common reasons that you will come across.

– The most common, and the most obvious, reason is because people can’t find what they need. Their important items, like keys, purses, and whatever else they need, are lost in the midst of the clutter, making it stressful when you’re trying to get out the door. You start running late a lot, or you can’t get things done because you can’t find the things that you need.

– Another reason is because it gets in the way and causes hazards for those living in your home. You can trip over things, items can fall on people, and kids and animals can get their hands (or paws) on things and eat them when they shouldn’t.

– People who have a lot of clutter are more likely to get sick, because there is a lot of dust, mold, and other allergy-inducing particles hidden in all of the clutter. And you get more stressed out at that point because you’re getting sick, missing work, or having to drop responsibilities because of being sick.

– The amount of clutter in a home can be overwhelming to someone who is trying to deal with it on their own, and it just gets more stressful as time goes on. It becomes cyclical. You get stressed because you have clutter, you get more clutter to deal with the stress, you look at the clutter, you get more stressed out; you see how it works. You have to stop the cycle before it goes out of control.

– The stress caused by clutter can also cause you to gain weight. Stress and weight gain have always been found to be related, and the stress can just make it that much worse. There have been studies that suggest that clutter and weight gain are related, as well.
